Short Platinum Electrode

Short Platinum Electrode

The Short Platinum Electrode fits both our rectifier-driven and battery powered plating pens. When used with our Short Swab it allows you to quickly pen plate larger surface areas on items such as rings, pendants and small pieces of silver ware.

Platinum Pen Electrode

This platinised titanium electrode is plated to a specifiaction of 100g/m2 – (around 5 microns) ensuring long-life.

Please read under the Tech Specs tab ‘caring for your electrode’.

Platinum Rod Electrode for Beaker Plating

Our range of platinum rod electrodes are especially useful for copper electroforming. Used with our copper electroforming solution, they produces consistently shiny and smooth layers of pure copper. No roughness after multiple uses and it eliminates time consuming polishing back.
One of the main sources of particulate contamination, which cause both dullness and roughness, is particulate contamination from using copper electrodes.
Using a platinum rod electrode eliminates this source of contamination.
Please note that if using this electrode, both the copper metal and brightener will need to be made as per the Copper Electroforming Calculator.
Further information on the dimensions and platinised length of the electrodes can be found by clicking on the Tech Specs tab below.
Please note that platinum rod electrodes can be used for other plating solutions including Gold and Palladium Tank plating Solution.

Platinum Electrode

Spa Plating’s Platinum Electrode is the best for top quality gold, palladium and rhodium brush plating . Essential for impurity-free plating

  • A must for top-quality electroplating
  • High spec coating for long-life

Platinum Tank Plating Kit – 1 Litre

This tank plating kit is ideal for plating platinum directly onto a number of metals for example silver, gold and grit-blasted titanium.

You could consider it as an alternative for rhodium when plating white gold. However it is slightly less silvery than rhodium.

Like rhodium, you can use it to create a tarnish-free coating for items made out of silver.

One of its other main uses is for producing platinised titanium anodes with the bench-top method of plating.

Scaling up or down; you can scale the volume of this Platinum Tank Plating Kit – 1 Litre up or down by swapping in different volumes of our plating beakers.

You can also switch easily between our different plating solutions as the Spa Plating tank plating process is very similar across all of our tank plating solutions.

If you want to scale down the volume of the 1 litre kit to a 500ml kit for example, these are the core items you will need to change;

Platinum Tank Plating Kit – 500ml

Cleaner – 500ml

Stirring Bar – Medium

Plating Beaker – 500ml

Beaker Ring – 500ml

Stainless mesh electrode for cleaning only – 500ml

Beaker Lid – 500ml x 2

Rinse beakers x 2 – 250 ml

These same core products can be scaled down further to 250ml or up to 2 litres.

The rest of the items on the kit list can stay.

Platinum Brush Plating Solution (UK and EU only)

Platinum Brush Plating Solution contains 10 grams of platinum per litre and has been designed specifically for brush plating. It plates a hard-wearing, bright layer of platinum. Ideal for both decorative and functional purposes.
You will need to use our S-Type Swabs with this solution. These can be purchased by clicking on the link in the ‘Related Products’ section, below this panel.

Voltage: 4 – 5 volts
Electrode: Platinum or Carbon

Orders outside UK and EU

This plating solution cannot be purchased and shipped outside the UK and the EU because it’s part of our range of plating solutions that are regulated for transport. A suitable substitute for this product may be our Palladium Brush Plating Solution, which can be purchased and shipped outside the UK and the EU.
