Conductivity Tester

The conductivity tester allows you to check that your work is conductive before
you start, by simply touching its surface with the black and red test probes. If
the needle clearly moves, then it is conductive and you can go ahead with
plating. The tester is particularly useful if you intend to plate things made of
brass or gold plated bathroom taps. These items are often coated in an
invisible, non-conductive layer of lacquer which is applied by the
manufacturer to reduce tarnishing.
It is also essential when plating on plastic to check that your painted silver
layer is conductive.
