How to use this calculator

1. In the first box, enter the diameter of the wire in millimetres.

2. In the second box, enter the length of the wire that is going to be submerged in the plating solution in millimetres.

3. Click the ‘Calculate’ button.

4. Read off the surface are in square centimetres (cm2).

Common Errors

Using the wrong units to input the diameter and length. For example, if the diameter of the wire is measured in centimetres, then that result need to be multiplied by 10 to convert it to millimetres before inputting it into the calculator.

Only input the length of wire that is submerged in the solution and not the total length.
