Gold Strike

Gold Strike Watch Our Video

This brush plating solution can be used for gold plating very adhesive layers on to difficult-to plate metals such as chrome, surgical steel and dental alloys. Standard swabs can be used with this solution, however for longer life we recommend using the S-Type Swab which can be purchased HERE.
It is primarily used as an adhesive undercoat for other metals such as gold, silver, palladium and platinum.

Recommended voltage: 3 volts

Gold concentration: 2 grams per litre

example usage 1

Our Gold Strike plates adherent layers of gold straight on to chrome without stripping and difficult to plate stainless steel alloys. Particularly useful for plating super adherent key layers for subsequent plating of thick layers of gold of 3 microns and above. Please use a Carbon Electrode, which can be purchased HERE

example usage 2

Our Gold Strike is very adhesive. To demonstrate this here is an example of the sellotape test – in section A of the picture, the tape is stuck to the surface of our freshly plated Gold Strike layer and then in section B of the picture, the sellotape is removed. The gold layer stays on the surface of the work with no traces of gold on the sellotape.

example usage 3

Other difficult to plate metals such as tungsten can also be plated with our Gold Strike.

  • when plating in recesses, we recommend using the using the Plating Pen (8 – 10 volts, Fibre Nib).
  • Plating rate decreases considerably below 20 °C
  • We strongly advise against the use of stainless steel anodes for most of our plating processes
  • Plating rates are calculated over a sample area which is permanently covered by swab.
