This photograph shows a sellotape test of a gold strike layer after brush plating a chrome plated lighter. This demonstrates just how adhesive this plating solution is when you use the brush plating method. In section A of the picture, you can see the tape sticking to the surface of our freshly plated gold strike layer and then in section B of the picture, we quickly remove the tape. The gold layer stays on the surface of the work with no traces of gold on the sellotape.
NB – you can’t achieve the same level of adhesion with the tank plating method.
Our Gold Strike plates layers of gold straight on to difficult to plate stainless steel alloys and chrome without stripping. It is particularly useful for brush plating super adherent key layers.
