Clear selection

This brush plating solution performs the same function as Gold Strike and Gold Strike Extra but has a much higher gold content. It plates adhesive gold layers two and a half times faster than Gold Strike on to difficult-to plate metals such as chrome, surgical steel and dental alloys. Standard swabs can be used with this solution, however for longer life we recommend using the S-Type Swab which can be purchased HERE.

Voltage: 3 – 4 volts Gold
Gold concentration: 10 grams per litre

Our Gold Strike Xtra plates adherent layers of gold straight on to chrome without stripping and difficult to plate stainless steel alloys. The ‘Xtra’ means there’s 2 grams more of gold in it compared with our Gold Strike, so it plates at the same rate but has more than twice the coverage of Gold Strike. Particularly useful for plating super adherent key layers for subsequent plating of thick layers of gold of 3 microns and above. Please use a Carbon Electrode, which can be purchased HERE

Pictured here is our brush plating equipment which is powered by our EasyPlater. It’s very straightforward to use, compact and lightweight.

Our Gold Strike Xtra is very adhesive. To demonstrate this here is an example of the sellotape test – in section A of the picture, the tape is stuck to the surface of our freshly plated Gold Strike Xtra layer and then in section B of the picture, the sellotape is removed. The gold layer stays on the surface of the work with no traces of gold on the sellotape.

Other difficult to plate metals such as tungsten can also be plated with our Gold Strike Xtra.

Notes:

  • When plating in recesses, we recommend using the using the Plating Pen (8 – 10 volts, Fibre Nib).
  • Plating rate decreases considerably below 20 °C
  • We strongly advise against the use of stainless steel anodes for most of our plating processes
  • Plating rates are calculated over a sample area which is permanently covered by swab.
