Carbon Electrode

The Carbon Electrode is a cheaper alternative to our platinum electrodes. Although you can use the carbon electrode with all of our brush plating solutions, we definitely recommend you use it with our rose gold solution and ActiClean.
This carbon electrode can soak up and retain plating solution. Because of this you should keep it for that plating solution only and not use it for different plating solutions.
Please note that this electrode will cause your swab to blacken. However, this has no effect on the quality of the plate. The carbon electrode can easily snap, so try not to so press down hard on it.

Yellow Gold Pen Plating Solution HB

Gold pen plating solution HB

The Gold Pen Plating Solution HB plates heavy deposits of gold. It is useful for building up gold on worn contacts on printed circuit board repair work and high-end jewellery applications.

This solution plates a shade of gold with a slightly yellower hue which approximates to between the Swiss watch industry standard of 2N and 3N.

Extra Large Flat Swab

For use with the Extra Large Stainless Steel Electrode and Extra Large Platinum Electrode for electroplating large surfaces. Our swabs will last a long time if thoroughly rinsed under running water after each use.

Flat Swab

Great for speeding up the plating of larger areas. Fits the Flat Stainless Steel Electrode and Flat Platinum Electrode. Our swabs will last a long time if thoroughly rinsed under running water after each use.

Plating Pen

Our plating pen is ideal for pen plating small items such as jewellery and PCBs. It works with our range of precious and non-precious pen plating solutions and our pen plating nibs. It’s robust and easy to maintain as you can remove the platinum electrode (with the allen key provided), allowing you to clean the pen thoroughly. You can also swap between our range of specialised electrodes, should you wish.

Please note the Plating Pen includes the Platinum Pen Electrode, but does not include nibs.

Please see below for further options in the ‘Related Products’ section.

Battery Powered Brush and Pen Plating Kit

battery powered brush and pen plating kit

The Battery Powered Brush and Pen Plating Kit gives you the flexibility of pen and brush plating, in one portable piece of kit.

As well as the standard contents of our battery powered pen plating kit it also includes

  • one of our short platinum electrodes
  • a short swab
  • 25ml of our gold brush plating solution.

This allows you to brush plate larger areas such as rings, small items of silverware or coins as well as being able to selectively plate with the standard pen plating accessories included.

This kit includes a crocodile clip protector which should be slipped over the crocodile clip between uses. This prevents the crocodile clip touching the battery pen electrode and running down the batteries while the pen is in storage. Please click on the ‘Examples’ tag for guidance on this.

Please  see the ‘Examples’ tab above for more information about usage, maintenance and storage.

The Battery Powered Brush and Pen Plating Kit can be used with our brush and pen plating solutions as well as our coloured metal mixers.

Rose Gold Brush/Pen Plating Solution Cyanide Free

Rose Gold Brush/Pen Plating Solution (18 Carat)

Our Rose Gold Brush/Pen Plating Solution Cyanide Free plates a warm shade of 18kt rose gold and can be used for both brush and pen plating. You can use either the Carbon Electrode – preferred –  (2.0 – 2.5 volts) or the Platinum Electrode (2.5 – 3.0 volts) with this solution.
One of the outstanding qualities of the Rose Gold Brush/Pen Plating Solution Cyanide Free is that it plates very fast compared to other brush plating solutions.
You can compare the plating rates using our online brush plating calculator on the links bar above.

Battery Powered Plating Pen confirguration:
We recommend two batteries + Battery Replacer
In certain circumstances, when plating small or irregularly shaped items it may be advantageous to use:
two batteries + Battery Voltage Reducer

Please note:

This is an air-sensitive solution. When not in use, keep the lid tightly shut and make sure you minimise the air space in the bottle. To help you do this you could either add glass marbles or beads to the bottle, or simply squeeze out the excess air at the top of the bottle.
You can also store the solution in a special storage syringe that’s available on the online shop.
If you don’t minimise the air space then the gold component in the solution will degenerate. This will cause copper-rich plating, which will tarnish quickly.
Please click on the ‘Examples’ tab below for suggestions on how to minimise air contamination.

Please see below for more products related to Rose Gold Brush/Pen Plating Solution (18 Karat).

We recommend a gold flash before plating onto stainless steel, nickel and its alloys.

Copper Tank Plating Solution

Our copper tank plating solution plates a semi-bright layer of copper. In a lot of instances, for expample plating onto nickel silver and zinc, we recommend a bonding layer of alkaline copper beforehand.

You can use it to build up a thick layer over zinc and zincated aluminium, which has been plated with an adhesion layer of alkaline copper. The thick layer of copper will protect the base layer of zinc or zincated aluminium from corrosion.

If you are plating onto zinc or zincated aluminium we recommend plating 1 micron thickness undercoat of our Alkaline Copper Tank Plating Solution or our Alkaline Brush Plating Solution.

Please use our platinum electrodes and anode bags for plating with our copper tank plating solution to avoid the requrement of continual filtration.

This solution can be used for plating over conductive silver paint, however subequent mechanical polishing may be necessary especially in recessed areas.

This solution contains 56 grams of copper per litre and is designed to be used to exhaustion at approximately 15 grams per litre giving a useable copper per litre is approximatly 40 grams.

Available worldwide.
